Having to deal every morning with an oily skin type is not an easy task. You see, some days things are going great, while other days may just be a disaster. The foundation will not stay in place, the oilness and shine will come through no matter what. It all depends on different factors, even stress. Ok I get it, we all have our good days and our bad days. So, I am a sucker for affordable pressed mattifying powders. I am using them a lot when I put on foundation. These days I am using the Stay Matte Powder from Rimmel London. I have two shades of their series. The 001 Transparent and the 006 Warm Beige.

TEXTURE
Mineral pressed powder with smooth texture neither too chalky nor too silky. It is light coverage, thus does not alter the colour of your makeup much. I could say that the powder mostly helps with the shine control. Blends very easy with the foundation.

There are three ways to use Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder:
One way to use Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder is onto the T-zone. After applying foundation, dust some powder onto your T-zone to prevent shine.
Another way to use the powder, is for to set your make up look. Use light sweep moves over your cheeks and chin.
Lastly, the 001 Transparent shade is great for the baking technique but it is suitable for light skin tones.
MY OPINION
I am very happy with this affordable mattifying powder. It makes my skin feel fresh and radiant. Removes the shine effortlessly from my T-zone and is really lightweight. Great for everyday use. It also blends well with the foundation and keeps the makeup on with no issues.
The powder gives a natural matte finish on the makeup look. To be more specific, it will remove the unwanted shine but the matte effect will have a bit of sheen finish to it. Like a subtle, healthy-looking glow. This radiant and fresh look is exactly what I want from a mattifying powder.
I highly do not recommend using the Stay Matte Powder on the face as a stand alone base. The reason is because it is lightweight it is too trasparent to provide any coverage. It helps to even out the skin tone but it does not cover imperfections. It will not help with the hyper-pigmentation. And definitely will not hide any large pores. It only works well with foundation underneath to make it matte. I am happy that it works great with my oily skin type.
However, one thing I did not like at all is the packaging. The Transparent lid makes it easy to view through and pick the shade that you want to use when doing your makeup. And it does closes tightly which makes it easy to carry in a neceser bag. But in the hands the material of the cap feels cheap and fragile. I do not know how long it will last before it breaks (and break my heart!). Plus, because the lid is detachable it makes a little more effort to open and close. Which is time consuming.
In addition, after some hours the make up may need some touch ups here and there. On average I could say after 4-5 hours the oils and shine will start coming through. Of course, the duration of the shine control depends on many factors. For example weather conditions, skin type, skin care products underneath and foundation formulations.
For me, this pressed powder works perfect in the winter for my oily skin and I love it. Will i buy it again? Definitely yes!
I hope this review was helpful to you.
